Transmission question?

My wife has a 2005 TL. We had the transmission serviced about 8k mile ago by Acura. The car currently has 78k on it. When driving the car tonight I noticed it started slipping when taking off from a dead stop under normal acceleration. The car seemed to slip through first & then shift to second. The car would accelerate while slipping in first but you could definitely tell it was slipping. Once the car was in second it drove normal. First time the car has ever had any problems like this. Any suggestions on what it could be? I am just now seeing all the transmission problems these cars have just by reading through these forums. Hoping it's not going to be a transmission rebuild. I'm new to these forums & any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would first check the trans fluid to make certain it's not low, after that?????
Good luck

Transmission fluid is fine. With the car off, warm & on level ground it reads about 1/4" above the second hole on the dipstick.

Took it to the transmission shop this morning & wouldn't you know, couldn't make the car duplicate the slipping! It was slipping on the way to the shop but they could not it to happen after 20 min of test driving.

Could be pressure switches on the tranny. I had the EXACT same problem on two of my 3g TL's and ended up replacing both transmissions

I did not have time to troubleshoot and a shop (non acura dealer) said tranny was garbage.

If you don't want to spend several thousand at first, try to look at those pressure switches.

Just got the car back today from Acura. They ad the car for 4 days & with all the test driving, could only get the car to duplicate the 1st gear slipping one time! Then I get the call from the service guy & he immidiately says I need a new transmission. Asked him why & he couldn't give me an answer. Spoke to the service manager & he told me that's what Acura recommends since there is not a check engine light that is coming on. He also said they can not pen point it because the car is not slipping all the time. The car only slips about every 3-4 days. I don't feel like I need a tranny, I'm thinking maybe a sensor or selonoid that is not completely failing. I can not afford a tranny rebuild & my wife loves the car but she is now thinking about trading it in. The service manager says to drive until it starts slipping all the time or a check engine light comes on. Not sure what to do here. Any suggestions or opinions?

Don't replace your tranny until it becomes undrivable. But, what you need to do is replace the 3rd and 4th clutch pressure sensors as stated above. There are also threads regarding replacing your transmission fluid away from the slippery honda z-1. Read up here about doing 3x3 with Redline D4 and Red lineType -F Raci

Here are the part numbers in that thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=108
This is the thread on doing a transmission flush (aka a 3x3) with Red line fluid:
