Transmission problems
2006 A/T 145,000 miles.
No MIL light, no flashind D indicator.
My last 3x3 with Redline Racing ATF was around 80k miles. This is when the 3/4 gear switches were also replaced.
So about 3 weeks ago I started experiencing delays when shifting into drive and reverse. A few days later, I start experiencing some slippage out of 3rd gear. This all happens early in the morning when things are still cold and subsides when things heat up, so without doing any research, I initially expect it to be a regular maintenance issue.
So I ordered up a bunch of new fluid, ATF filter and 2 new switches to repeat what was performed at 80k (I didn't do the filter at 80k, didn't know about it back then). It took 2 weeks from for the parts to arrive and then my next day off wasn't until Christmas eve, so it was driving it about 15-20 miles a day for those 2.5 weeks, almost no mileage on the weekends.
The day before Christmas eve, I'm driving home from work and my transmission all of sudden won't shift into 3rd gear and is constantly slipping out of gear once it hits second and tries to go to 3rd, resulting in high revs like I'm in neutral once I hit about 20-30 mph. I had to coast it home and baby the accelerator to get her there.
Christmas eve and I finally have time to work on things. Everything has just gotten incrementally worse with everything that I do.
1. Did the 3x3 flush and replaced the ATF filter. Didn't do the pressure switches. Test drive was like before, except a little worse. I can only get it up to about 20 MPH max just driving it down the street and back to my driveway. Drain plug has a nice thick layer of grime and I did detect metal shavings on the ATF filter.
2. I removed the AB Pressure control solenoid to look from blockage of any of the filters. Blew out the filters and wiped down any grime that fell in the cavity. Test drive is now worse. Won't go into any gear when in D. When in M, I can put it into 1st to roll it in and out of the garage. R still works.
3. Popped the AB pressure control solenoid off again, thinking I introduced a blockage. Appears clean, so i put it back on. Test drive is now worse. Car will not engage in any gear, in any way, whatsoever.
I did not replace the AB solenoid, gasket, or o-rings. I'm not sure if I should, on the possibility that I've just introduced a pressure leak or if I should just start asking for quotes for a tranny rebuild.
I didn't have a multimeter at my disposal, so I couldn't test the solenoids using documented methods.
About a week before the symptoms began, the battery died. A few weeks before that, the starter died and the lower control arms were rebuilt. The only warning indicators that appear in the dash are for the TPMS because the guy who changed my tires lost one of my pressure sensors.
Anyone have any words of encouragement? Would you guys bother with going any further troubleshooting solenoids? Does this tranny sound like toast to you?

Merry Christmas
You might want to switch back to dw1 atf. Someone recently just had the same thing happened to them while using redline atf too. Switching back did the trick for that individual.
Do a search.
You might want to check the pressure solenoid C for a clogged screen too.

Merry Christmas to you too!
Yeah, I think that's a good suggestion. How are you going in to reach that one? Are you removing that metal battery tray? I was having issues with reaching the bottom bolts on the battery tray and was worried that I'd never get them back in even if I did.
