Transmission problem

Recently had my 04 TL transmission completely rebuilt, when I got it back it wasn't shifting into gears properly. So I took it back and they said my gear shift cable is probably worn and needs replaced. Also it now makes a whining noise, It seems to me its because the gears arent getting enough friction but i'm no expert. Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this issue?

Well i guess you may as well have them replace the cable and if that does not work then they are still on the hook for repairing the trans to proper operating condition. I would not let someone else do the cable cuz then they will just blame it on the cable install. I cant think why the cable would cause the whining noise though?

I am pretty sure that our TLs shift electronically and don't have cables. I am not for sure though, but you might want to check that out.
