Might be because you're not making a full stop before shifting gears?

Make sure you come to a complete stop before switching gears. If you do this and still have a clunk, check your motor and transmission mounts to make sure that one isn't broken/cracked.

Who cares what it is- its a brand new car!!!!!
Call the dealer and ask for first appt- you have bad transmission noises!
They will send the tow truck if you want

Even new cars suffer from bad part or improper assembly- you know they build everythig on the cheap and as fast as possible-right????
things break - thats what the bumper to bumper first year warranty is about-

Maybe he's been doing Neutral > D5 drops to get better burnouts.

Holding back my sarcasm per warning above lol, you probably have a broken motor mount.

Wheel hop from launching hard or burnouts, shifting before fully stopped, hitting the gas in neutral and shifting into gear. Pretty much anything that shocks the drivetrain. They usually don't break from normal service until they get very old.

Just take it in, it's a warranty item.

Just out of curiosity, you're acting an aweful lot like I did when I broke my parents' car.... This is yours, right? lol.

Stand next to the car with the hood up. Have a friend put it in drive and hit the gas with the brake and e-brake on so the car doesn't move. A couple sharp bursts or throttle is what you want and see of the engine moves a lot.

Then put it in reverse and do the same and see if the engine moves more, less, or the same as in drive. If it moves a lot in drive, it's your front mounts (assuming I've got this FWD thing down right). If it moves more in reverse it's your rear mounts.

The engine is supposed to move a little but if it's doing it enough to make a noise, it will probably be obvious it's too much. You may hear the noise outside of the car with the hood up or it could be an exhaust component hitting the firewall. Anything touching the firewall will sound very loud inside.
