Transmission Fluid Change - Unsure about a couple things.

So before everyone hops on me for not using the search function, believe I have please. There are just some things in the thread that weren't exactly clear to me. When it comes to the act of DOING the change, I have no problem with that, I'm handy when it comes to the actual physical labor. First things first is the TYPE of transmission fluid. I have heard so many different opinions on type of fluid and I have decided to go with Redline, now the question is what kind?
Look at all these.
So once I choose which product from Redline then I want to use I was thinking about doing a 1x3 change since I don't have that kinda cash to drop on a 3x3. And I assume the process for a 1x3 is to just drain the tranny fluid, and then pour the new tranny fluid in (3 quarts I think I read when you just do a regular 1x3?)

Is there anything else I need to know?
Thanks for humoring a first timer!

If you want to go performance, user i_love_cars(or maybe Swoosh??) did an excellent write up while experimenting with different fluid ratios.
I've been following his advice for a few years now and doing the 1x3 as 2 quarts of D4 and 1 quart of Type-F 66/33 ratio.
Do a 1x3 every oil change for the next three changes to cycle the old fluid out.

If you want to stay with Redline, go D4. Stay away from the racing fluid. Or if you wanna do a mix that is up to you.

^LOL I think that's why it's confusing!!!
so many options....
I think if some one were confused, it would be best to put the Honda stuff in...just to make it easy.

I've heard our OEM stuff is...not the best, leading to early oxidation and failure of our transmissions. Not sure if that's true or not but, I'd also like a nice little "Step above" you know what I mean?

What about you, what's your transmission fluid poison?

I have a 6MT.....so I use GM syncromesh modified friction.

the Honda ATF DW-1 is the UPDATED VERSION and is better than prior honda fluid....
and you can always always change the transmission fluid early.
so, lets say you dont think the honda stuff is up to snuff, just change it out every 30K miles!!!!

Honestly we can beat a dead horse again about this. Fluid is fluid. It all has to pass tests to be approved. Comes down to personal preference and what YOU feel better filling it up with.
