Trans inoperable

Well guys it finally happened to me. After dropping my son off at school (car just warm) I shifted from reverse to drive and THUD sound, no drive. Rev engine and I hear a tink tink tink sound with the speed of the engine. No fluids visible. Car built 10-'05. 128k miles, vin 19UUA662X6A006161

I had my '02 Oddy trans replaced with good will from the law suit and I know that the cut off was 04 for the bad ones. Does anyone know what to look for for this issue? I have searched all morning and feel as if I'm screwed.

I had no indication that anything was wrong like my Oddy did like hard shifts to 2nd or slow shifts into drive. Nothing.

How screwed am I? I would really like to go manual in this car. Haven't investigated that route yet.

Anyone know what is next in store for me for sure?

Actually sounds more like a broken axle or CV joint - MUCH cheaper than a transmission.

Does no fluids visible mean you can't see ATF on the stick? I agree with failure on changing gears, it sounds like a driveshaft/ axle failure which should be an easy fix.

I do have ATF on the stick. No fluids on the ground. I was hoping for that answer. I f'en hope its a CV or axle!!

nothing like the reassuring factor that its not the transmission that broke but a drive shaft. ( as if that's any better but, at least its a lighter touch on the wallet )

Tell me about it! I'm changing the fluid during the R&R. Should have done it 20k ago.
