Life is not so good for me. My 06 TL 5AT just blew the trans. Car rolls backward when on a slight downgrade when put into drive, reverse, park or low. I'm fucked. How much will this cost to replace

 

That sucks dude hope it's salvageable. Good excuse to trade for a 6spd though

 

No check engine light, just rolls backward when on a hill in park, reverse, drive or low.

 

No leaks either. Tow truck guy owns a shop and thinks it's my torque converter bolts, or the whole torque converter

 

its not just an axle is it?

That's what my 2G did when I snapped an axle. It's a cheap fix.

 

Sounds like an axle to me. If the trans was slipping, it would still lock in park. If a car rolls in park as the only abnormal symptom, it's usually an issue with the parking pawl. Broken axle will cause both symptoms.

Yeah it's def gotta be an axle. I'm running out of money though. I have 800 left to spend. If it's BOTH axles I'm gonna be waiting a while

same happened to friends car right in front of me at a light turning left. I was wandering why his car was reversing slowly when he's got an automatic. Axle snapped when he went to give it gas. It happens

I had my buddies dad replace my axles. I think he charged me 200 with a three year warranty. They weren't OEM axles though.

 

Didn't everyone warn you about modding a car with an 04-06 5AT in it?

Hopefully that's not what the problem is, but either way, you're on borrowed time. We are not trying to misguide you when we say you should pick up a 6MT TL instead, if you want to drive hard and fast. You'd be faster and much more reliable with that manual transmission

I wonder why ACURA never had the option for reman axles on the 3RD gen

 

Official word is in and will only cost 250 to fix. Shattered drivers side axle.
