tranny stuck in second? auto

08 Tl auto
i was on my way to work this morning and a semi pulled in front of me so i floored it to get around and then a car pulled in front of me so i took my foot off the gas abruptly.
my rpm sayed high, my car was not downshifting on its own, i was in auto mode. so then i flipped it to sport shift mode and it showed to be in second gear. i then flipped it back to auto and still it was stuck in second. it did not downshift on its own till i had slowed down and reach about 30mph.
the car is brand new(on a lease).
has this happed to anyone else? i had an 05 rsx-s befor this and there was a third gear issue with all those cars.
i know honda tranny have a sort-of bad track record..
if it happends again ill take it to acura.
is there any sort of additive for the auto tranny fluid? i know the 6sp'd you can use syncromax for the syncros.

its a known glitch with the VSA system in the exact senario you posted. Honda is working on a fix for it according to one of the guys in service who spoke to acura techline.

happened in my 06 TL 2 or 3 times in a similar situation... hard accelerating that was abruptly stopped.... i switched to manual mode, and tried to up-shift into 3rd... didnt work.. once i slowed the car back down to around 20/30mph, it slipped into 3rd on its own

hasnt happened really on my 08 TL-S, but sometimes the gradelogic tranny pisses me off when im going down hill in auto mode.. it forces into 2nd, i switch to manual mode, push into 3rd, go back to auto, and it goes back into 2nd!! it stays at like 4k+ RPM when going down hill... i guess it takes stress of the brakes when going down a steep grade, but it definitely has to be putting more stress on the tranny

take it to the dealer- could be brake system or trans problem
Needs dealer diagnosis on this one

Old thread, but i figured i would chime in. I had the exact scenerio 2 or 3 times already on my 08. I am taking it in next week. I was able to get it to go back to normal by putting it in neutral then back to D. I couldnt go down to 20 - 30 MPH like someone suggested... would have been hard to do so on the parkway.
Does anyone have an update on this issue? maybe some dealer expierences?

If it happens, switch in to L and see if it helps unconfuse the car.
