Tranny issues please HELP!

so couple days ago while i was driving my car i had made a right turn. as soon as im turning my car goes from 1st gear to second and as im leaving the turn my car quickly jumps back to 1st gear and then slams into second. then shortly after my vsa and the cel come up. Drive the letter D start blinking on my screen. i got a tranny code thrown to me i forgot what the numbers were ill probably post it later on today. i had a quick question for everyone, i think im probably gonna have to do a new tranny swap or rebuild. what kind of tranny should i go for. i drive a 07 tls. i recently asked my mechanic how much this would cost and he told me 2-3 thousand.

I would get the codes first. This could easily be a speed sensor or some other electronic failure. I definitely wouldn't panic yet. Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

Should be? It's one thing you can eliminate with 30 seconds of your time. I've seen the converter drain back and the fluid checked and the level was fine until the engine was started. The condition of the fluid will tell you whether it's time to worry or not. If something is slipping it will quickly turn the fluid dark. Im interested to know what this code is that the shop said is nothing wrong.

It could be any one of the speed sensors or solenoids or fluid level or whatever but it sounds like you want to rebuild it.

i threw a p0741, had to rebuild the tranny as it was way cheaper and had confidence in the warranty the shop gave me. Majority of the labor will be taking out the undercarriage...shop said it was a nightmare. $3000 later with a 3 yr 36k warranty on the tranny was well worth it.

Torque converter clutch stuck off and a solenoid problem. Both will be thrown from low fluid, have we checked it yet? You said it occurred going around a corner, that points to fluid level too. It could very well be electrical such as a ground. It could be the TCC or trans. No matter what it is, it's very easy to diagnose by a competent shop. Most don't know what they're doing so they say it needs a rebuild.

Could that solenoid code be thrown due to the transmission being overfilled?

If it's very overfilled, enough to aerate the fluid it can throw that solenoid code. It would have to be several inches above the full mark on the dipstick though. He could check by looking at the fluid right after a drive and see if there are any fine bubbles in it.

If you end up needing a transmission, 9 times out of 10 you'd be better off with the lowest mileage used transmission you can find. Very few shops really know how to build Honda transmissions, most of them just toss in a new set of clutch packs and don't go through the valve body like they should. But its usually enough to get you past whatever warranty they give you.

I had an issue with mine being overfilled by about 2 inches and threw a solenoid P0721 ( IIRC ) and it was the second solenoid was acting up.

I just had some issues with mine.

it was hesitating/jerking between 1500-2000 RPMs then yesterday on the interstate it shot up to 7000rpm and would not go passed 2nd gear.

It did not give any blinking lights, engine light or anything.

It is now at mechanic. Any ideas??? thanks.

This is going to sound insane, but depending on how many miles your car has on it, call the dealer. I had 89k on my car when the transmission went bad and was quoted $3000 to rebuild from various shops. I explained to the dealer the situation and they gave me a brand new transmission installed with a 36k warranty for $1451.
