tranny fluid fill plug???????
hey...i just wanted to know if anyone knows where the fill plug and drain plug are for the 04 tl....a diagram would be helpfull....thank you
Look in the Service Dept under section C. I think there's a good DIY with photos.
If not, do a search for "fluid change". The fill plug requires an extension and a swivel joint and it takes a huge tug to pop it loose.

You will have to remove the plastic protective shield under the transmission to access the drain plug, and check plug if you are of a mind to use that method for your refill.
The fill plug is directly under the ribbed coupling connecting the air cleaner housing to the throttle body on top of the transmission. It is rather large, is marked with a swipe of marker, and has a female 3/8" ratchet "hole". Here is a link with photos for your review.

You do NOT need to remove the battery, the air cleaner housing, or anything else up top. You will mostly likely need to move the plastic electrical conduit which runs behind (throttle body side of the air cleaner housing. Another link.

You will need a torque wrench, the aluminum washers, ramps, and a level (you want to make sure the car is level for the drain). The refill takes 2.3 quarts, which is 2 quarts, 10 ounces rounded. If you remove the check plug and watch for fluid to overflow from its hole, be careful when replacing it. It only takes 8.7 ft/lbs. Some folks have wrenched the head off of this bolt and that's the reason I don't remove it.
This is a very simple and clean drain and fill. You should have no problems - just take your time and you'll be fine.
