Tpms
hey guys,
just a quick question. i recently just got my first flat tire. had to put the spare donut on there. as i was driving home, my tpms went off saying that there was a malfunction. is that just b/c it can't read the pressure of the spare tire? or could be of another problem?

quick answer to your quick question...
there is no sensor in your spare tire.

twice in the last week i got TPMS malfunctions. both times i restarted the car and it went away. the tires are fine. pressures are good. any idea as to what it could be?
the first time i was going about 70 when it happened. i pulled over checked the tires. they were good. restarted and it worked. and was able to read all 4 tires.
the second time, was on local roads, after a little bit of highway. i didnt even stop. and when i restarted the car next time. it was fine.

never had any issues with any of the tires. never had to repair or replace any of them yet. they werent even rotated a month ago during service since they were wearing evenly.
ive had only had to pump the tires maybe twice since i go the car. the last time was this past winter when it got really cold.
the only think i did notice is that the pressures might be a little high. but i only check them after the TPMS fails and i restart the car. the tires are ranging from 37-41 psi.
it seems to fail during high way driving. about 40 minutes of high way driving and starting to happen more often.

two things, you either have water(mositure) inside on of the wheels or one of your tpms sensor has a low battery charge.
take it to your dealer, have them do a functional test on the tpms system and do a sensor relearn procedure. a cause to the problem should show up once those test are done. good luck
