Total power lose while driving

Afternoon all,

I have an 06 TL with right around 108k on it and all of a sudden I am having power issues. A few weeks ago was the first time it happened and now it seems to be happening more and more often.

The symptoms are I start the car and runs/idles fine till I attempt to get under way. The car will lose all power and the dash lights flash and then it all suddenly regains it power. My first thoughts were ignition switch but I am not sure that is the case here reason being is when it loses power it's really like the battery cable have been pulled as the clock resets itself. I have already looked at all my terminals and everything is clean and corrosion free.

Has anyone had a problem like this or have any ideas on what the heck may be going on here?

Cheers,
-Stephen

I have not yet, that was my next step. I figured throwing it out to the masses wouldn't hurt in case someone else had some crazy stuff like this happen to them.

Bad battery? Bad cable?

Maybe the AP sensor? (yeah, I know he said the clock reset...).

Did you get a MIL?

Get your codes read for free at any auto parts store and report back.

My car was doing the exact same thing and it actually lost all power while driving one day on the freeway...scary. Pulled over, sat for a bit and it fired right back up. I thought it was strange and later found out I had a bad/broken positive battery cable. How this happened, i dunno but my mechanic told me he has fixed this problem on several TLs. I would check into that and have it replaced if that is your issue...im sure it is though. Hope this helps.
