Too much oil?

I was changing my oil in the freezing cold and had two semi-full batches of mobil 1. I overfilled it to about 1 cm over the full line while trying to add up 4.7 L lol Anyway here's a pic:

Should i open up the oilfilter and let it drain a bit or should i not worry about having too much oil pressure? I drove to the nearest gas station and back and there were no oil lights flashing.

Thanks for the feedback

dont sweat it. Gen 2 cars call for 4.7 and we use the full 5 qts without any concern
Overfill doesnt change the pressure but severe overfill- like a full qt over- will froth and foam and be worthless as oil

too much oil is worse than being 1/2qt low...if it were me i would take some out...and if it calls for 4.7qts, then 5 is TOO MUCH...i wouldnt take that advice...

Start the car and run it for 20 seconds at idle. Shut off and wait 30 seconds the check the oil. If its still slightly above the hatch mark, then drain a few ounces. Easy way to do this is NOT through the drain plug but rather through the filter. Spin it off, dump the oil inside, then spin back on. Start the engine and repeat the above steps until the oil is at the proper level.

If you need to drain a lot of oil then you need to do it throug the plug. BTW it doesn't look like you over filled that much.

Vinner6 is correct, you can get a condition whereby the crank hits the top of the oil in the pan, thus frothing up the oil.

Forgot to add: The reason I say to run the engine a bit is because the level always drops a few centimeters on the stick because the engine is filling up the voids in the filter. If your pic was taken after running the engine, then follow the process I described above to drain the few ounces needed.

1/2 qt low is far worse than the tiny bit over in this case. There is a margain for error on full line. Running low oil means less oil to shed heat and lubricate...how that is better is beyond reality

1/2 qt low falls inbetween the two lines on the dipstick which is well within its operating limits...where as being over the line is outside of its correct operating limits...

FULL is FULL anything less is less, not ~operating limits~ at low mark- MINIMUM and still working at the low mark- if you want to run `your` oil there -fine- but stop telling people running low is fine~

Between the marks is fine ... if it wasn't the engine engineers who might know a smidge more than us wouldn't put that perameter on there.

Under severe conditions its prefered it be kept full as mentioned before its also a coolant.

I've been running mine slightly fuller than the picture for 40,000 miles. So far so good. Definately no reason to go to the trouble of draining the extra.

owners manual states like every other engine with a dipstick...between the lines is normal, below the bottom line add oil, above the top line not good...too much oil is not good...you do what you want, i will stay within the lines....

I have no knowledge of what overfilling the oil may do, but could that not be a reason for you only having 183tq and 210 HP, hence the worlds unluckiest TL?

It's not that much oil. Only takes half a quart to raise the level to what you saw in the picture. The dipstick goes at an angle so while it might be 3/8" high on the stick, it's not that much higher in the pan. It would take the crank whipping the oil around from being immersed to affect performance. My plugs looked good (no oil burning), and no foaming of the oil. I would worry more about oil leaks than a performance difference.

The world's unluckiest title comes from random things happening to this car that have never happened to my others like a tree falling on it, getting hit while parked a few times, getting it keyed, getting hit when it was literally the only car in the area, etc.
