Tighten Fuel Cap!!!!!! Help!!!

Every so often I get that annoying display popping up even though my fuel cap is plenty tight. I can spin the damn thing 100 times but it seems to only go away when it wants and by itself.

Realistically it is a $10 plastic glued solenoid valve that had a latent defect from the start. Acura part pricing is particularly opportunistic.

The defective ones are from Mexico, the new ones are from Japan. Took me 5 minutes to swap.

You will need a long needle nose pliers to slide the clamps off and a 10mm socket to remove the valve. You may want to loosen the fuse box to be able to move it out of the way.

Take top vacuum hose off first then remove the nuts/washers and you will have more access to bottom hose.

Swap valves and attach bottom hose first, then nuts/washers and top hose.

I already had all my covers off engine from summer time so it was easy.

I haven't drove car yet but I hear it takes 50 start cycles for the code to be removed permanately???? Not sure on that. I will report back when I get to play with it some more.

Good information. I'm experiencing the same problem with my '06 Acura TL. Some posts elude to manufacturer defect, was there ever a recall?
