I love my car. And it loves me back with 163,000 miles on it. The problem first happened in 09/2010. Then not again until three weeks ago, and it's happened 7 times since.

During normal driving and between 1500 & 2000 RPM, there is a fluctuation in throttle engagement as though I'm lifting off the gas (I'm not). Then suddenly, my Engine light, ABS light, VSA light, and "!" light display, throttle pressure drops BUT the engine doesn't stall. I simply have to turn off the ignition and restart the car...which is tricky at 70 mph. When I restart, all lights but the engine light turn off. Then by next morning, even the engine light is off.

The techs just reset the codes cause they can't duplicate what happens. Any thoughts?

the techs didnt tell you what code was displayed?

I wonder if you can go to autozone or any parts store to see if the code is still present.
if you know what code was thrown, then diagnosing the problem is much easier.

 

I had a similar problem with my '03 TL and found out there was something wrong with the cruise control...even though I wasn't using it. You might want to check to see if that might have something to do with it. I had the cruise control module and the cable replaced and drove an additional 60,000 miles before I sold it without any reoccurrance.

Thank you for the tips. At present, I'm trying to be cost conscious. Though, I'm completely lost on this one. I will post when I learn more.
