Terrible remote range

I know this is relatively minor, but does anyone have any ideas for how to improve the remote keyless entry range (2005 TL)? I had a remote start installed by the dealer directly on the regular remote and I can't get any response unless I am approximately 20 ft. from the car, rendering my remote start essentially worthless. Any tips or pointers would be most appreciated. Thanks!

yup....sounds like it's time for the ol' keyfob-on-your-throat-while-your-mouth-is-open-then-press-keyfob trick.

I think opening your mouth is optional. Most people in the threads I provided just put the key fob under their chin.

I can see a new thread....Does open-mouth-and-chin vs. chin method increase your key fob range.

This trick doesn't work with Ford keyfob.... I tried it with my previous car and never worked.

Problem with TL is that... distance varies too much. One lucky day I get like 100 feet but most times I only get 30 feet at most.

This started happening to me right out of the blue. Remote works fine for 7 months since I've owned the car. Then one day I have to literally be right next to the driver door for it to work at all. Yes, I replaced the fob battery. Yes, both remotes suck, not just one. Anyone experience a sudden loss of remote range like this? Car battery losing charge slowly maybe causing this?

What do you have that's always powered in your car?

So update on this previous post. My remote range is actually fine. What is happening is that the fob won't lock until the interior lights have turned off. It used to take 15 seconds for the key fob to lock the car because that's how long the interior lights stayed on. I changed the light setting to 5 seconds and now the fob works after 5 seconds. I replaced the stock interior bulbs with LEDs not long before this happened. I'm not sure why LED interior bulbs would cause this but there you go.

Maybe they have some cheapo noisy power supplied build-in into them that cause interference? I replaced all incandescent light bulbs I could find with leds and never had problems like you.
