Temperature controls
My temperature controls act funny and doesnt seem like it should be working this way. When I usually keep the temperature in the mid 70's a/c is on, but i can put it up to 82 degrees and it still feels like its blowing cold air (fan will decrease speed though). If i put it on high it will go to warm air. I can then drop it down to 80 and it finally feels like what 80 should feel like... warm. Basically what im saying is to get "heated" air I must put it on high for a couple of seconds and then drop down. My buddy has a tsx and his doesnt have this problem. Does anyone have this problem or a solution to it?

My 06 does the same thing. I asked my friend to look at the heater valve out in the engine bay and to let me know when it started opening. Mine starts opening when i get to 84 and opens fully on HI. Then once i drop it down to desired temp, it will open and close gradually.
I couldnt really find a fix and it wasnt too important. I live in Miami, FL so its just always HOT out. A/C stays on low!!

Page 21-9 thru 21-14 shows how to get into and utilize the self diagnostic function of the system. If you don't have a service manual, I would recommend getting one. I would post the pages on here, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I do not have a service manual. Does it say anything about this? Seems like multiple people have this problem. You would think someone has an answer.

There has to be someone out there who has had this problem and had it fixed!?!?!?! I know if I had bought the car brand new and it had this problem it would be going right back to the dealership. Anyone?

Vroooooom....Vrooooooom!!
Interesting ... I've just noticed the same thing in my 05TL within the past month. I'm thinking it's gotta be a baffle or something that is getting stuck.
By moving the temp to high it is trying to open the baffle all the way therefore putting enough tension on it to make it become unstuck. Then when you put the temp back down it is moving freely again.
Not sure how to resolve this though .... anyone else?

saw this on this thread. will update if it works https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/f-167-heater-water-coolant-control-valve-diy-747304/
bump....
didnt want to start a new thread =(
i just replaced my heat valve and it was working fine afterwards.
Just recently I noticed my "heat" begins to heat around 80.
The other day I sprayed some wd40 on the cable which seemed to have fixed it.
Upon putting temp to 73 i began to feel some heat. Great!
Yesterday, I put on 73 and back to cold.
Should there be some resistance on the lever the cable moves? It feels a bit hard to move. I never adjusted the bolt. Just took it out of its plastic and installed.
I took a look this morning and noticed my coolant level was at min on the res. tank. Radiator is topped off.
any other suggestions?

6Speed - Do the following so we can see if you are having problems:
Turn switch to ON position.
Press AND hold OFF Button.
While holding onto the OFF Button, Press the Recirculation button 5 times within 10 seconds.
Release OFF Button.
By doing this, the HVAC system will run a self diagnostics.
If there are errors it will show up where the temperature displays are.
For example: Your display is as shown below
__ __
|__| |__|
|__| |__|
Each line for the numbers represents a code, you will use both digits on the Driver side and only one on the passenger side.
Please run and report what errors you get, I will look it up for you then. Would post scans, but there's just too many.
Edit - Lines don't want to work with me on my mock up of the number display but you should get the idea.

Both sides. That was the only codes.

What is the ambient temperature and the cabin temperature? Do you happen to have a infrared thermostat?

Checked the fuse it's good. Just so I give you a better description of the problem the HCV stays closed from Lo to 85, then opens on high. Once I start backing it down it incrementally closes with each degree. Basically it won't partially open on it's own. I have to go to Hi first and back it off. It's a PITA to do every morning. Especially with cooler weather coming.

By doing the HVAC self diagnostic, it would provide us with clues as to mix control motor issues, and open electrical circuits... Fuse 30 feeds power to recirculation control motor.
The image below shows a diagram of the valve cable adjustment. I would give this a shot. By the looks of it, seems as though the valve cable is under the driver side dash. But I might be wrong...
Please let us know if this does help!

I had no codes on the diagnostic. I will try that procedure although I have a feeling it will not be the fix because it does the full temperature range currently, just not when I increase temp (until high). While I'm doing that adjustment I am going to take the cable off and go through the full temp range a couple of times. I will then know if the problem is upstream or downstream of the linkage under the dash. Thank you for the diagram. Hopefully I have time to get to it tomorrow.

any update? mine does the same. passenger side stays cold until i turn it to about 78-80.
i did the WD40 on the control valve a couple years ago, and i think that worked for a LONG time. but its doing it again, and the WD40 didnt work this time.
