Sunroof Tilt Rattle Fixed
Hi everyone.
First of all, i cant believe how many squeaks and rattles this car has.
Rattles annoy me the hell out of me, it seems like every time i hit a bump on the road the car will find a rattle to present to me. This specific one was annoying because it was a PITA to find and i couldn't find any fix for it on A-Zine. Sorry if its a repost.
I don't know if im the only one, but if my sunroof is on tilt, the whole roof rattles like crazy at every bump or bass drop.
Very simple fix though
All you need is a pair of scissors and a roll of foam tape, i used 3M mounting tape cause that's all i had.
There are 5 tabs or whatever they are called on the wind deflector, it might be different but in my case it was #3 that was rattling against the glass frame causing my rattles
You want to put the piece of foam tape directly parallel to the tab that rattles
Hope this helps some of you fix at least one of the many rattles. Now i can vent my car out and listen to music at the same time.

nice fix.
I have a tilt rattle too and it might be caused by this. I usually just close it slightly from full tilt and it goes away. It only rattles at full tilt.

Thanks op! With warmer weather finally on the horizon, my sunroof will be popped all the time. In the past, my JL 10w6 in the trunk meant that awful sunroof rattle, but hopefully this takes care of it. I'll be trying it soon!

Brings me back to the very first time I was in my new TL the day I drove home from the dealer in 2005. About a mile from my house (15 from the dealer) I tilt-opened the sun roof and immediately got the buzz. Within a day I had also done a similar thing. I used what I had on hand. See below.
Top Tip - Get some low density foam insulation tape. For this application something like 1/2 inch is good. Cut a few short pieces and (I used 2) and put them under where the wind deflector stows.
In general never hurts to have a roll of this stuff in both 1/4" and 1/2" thicknesses on hand. Tons of uses besides actually insulating anything!

I just got my moonroof tilt rattle... I have been using a piece of folded paper wedged in between the area causing the rattle...lol. Oddly, this noise did not start until after I replaced my front and side engine mounts, I'm sure they are unrelated, but seems odd.
Thanks for the post!

Back when my jalopy was new............
Remember the song that goes, "Beach baby Beach baby"? I was singing that song "Roof rattles Roof rattles" one moment, the next moment I was singing that old Nat King Cole Song, "Ramblin Rose", Rattling Roof, Rattling roof. I had to take it back 14 times to two different dealers to fix this shit. Half the time they though I was making this up and it got to the point where I almost forced Acura to buy the car back! They finally performed the TSB for this which fixed most of those noises. Those annoying vibration buzzes drive me nutz! Now, those same rattles are creeping back intermittently and driving me insane, especially the specific symptom that started this thread.
I'll be taking the car to Paul, our star mechanic here in North Jerzy with a printout of this thread and let him deal with it.
