Just completed the DIY timing belt service and the car feels great. Later this summer I want to do my annual regimen of bleeding my brake system and transmission drain and refill (once) but also I would like to do my EGR valve, front and rear mounts and O2 sensors for the first time, and my spark plugs. I don't really want to buy OEM parts if I don't have to so what are some recommended third party options especially for the EGR, mounts and O2 sensors, and what is this upstream and downstream thing I see? Also is there any other small preventative maintenance project I should tackle as well?

 

Take a look at RockAuto.com, but I certainly wouldn't be doing part replacement unless something has gone bad or maintenance is due e.g. spark plugs.

 

how long should spark plugs run for? i have in for 3 to 4 years

I'd suggest using OEM for these parts...
