Stuck at the office

Need help. Car started having problems at lunch today - seatbelt warning going off even though I had my belt on. Mid-afternoon the alarms starts going off for no reason. When I started the car to go home, one of the rear doors showed open, even though it wasn't open. While this isn't a big deal, the interior lights stay on. I suppose I could pull that fuse, but would rather find the root cause and not bandaid the cause. We've had snow the last week or so and I wonder if something isn't wet? Seems strange to have all of these issues....

btw: my car is a 2004 TL

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Alarm/Seatbelt/door open issue

Anyone know which fuse to pull to disable the alarm?

Well, normally I'd say the interior lights, alarm issue, and door open signal are all related to a faulty rear door switch (upper rear part of the rear door jams). But with the seat belt message also, it's possible you have a network or MICU issue. Here's the fuse box diagram:

Please forgive me, what is an MICU? Also your image didn't come through for me? Is it something I can remove the fuse for? I have my manual in front of me that shows fuse number and location.

Multiple integrated control unit. Could also be a faulty gauge control unit.

Not sure. If it's the switch, I think pulling fuse #7 will disable the security system. If it's the MICU or gauge control unit, I'm clueless.

Be aware, fuse # 7 also controls HVAC, XM, Navi, combo switch on the steering column, and a few other items...

Anyone heard that a dying battery in your remote may cause these types of issues? If I take th battery out and replace it, the unlocking/locking action beeps. If I leave the battery along, the unlocking/locking action doesn't beep. Strange, but thought I should mention it.

have battery and charging system checked for free at parts stores
battery is lucky to last 3-4 years these days

Low voltage will cause many false codes and poor running

Interior light issue and door ajar issue seems to be resolved...

Now the issue is with my alarm. Alarm goes off without warning and at varying intervals. Last time was 1:40AM Saturday. Real nice.

New problem is related to my accidental removal of fuse #7. Now my nav is asking for a code. Anyone know where to find that code?

Well, if the alarm is still going off, then my guess is that your door ajar/light issues are not resolved. I'd still lean toward a faulty rear door switch (since it was a rear door that showed on the MID earlier).

Navi code may be on the side of the glove box. You can get it from you dealer by giving them your VIN and NAVI serial number. The NAVI serial number is on the bottom of the DVD player in the trunk or there is a sequence of button pushes where you can retrieve it on the NAVI screen (do a search, it's on the forum somewhere).

Once you get your code, go over to myacura.com and register. You can load your NAVI code there and it will be permanently stored. I also hide my radio and navi codes in my cell phone contact list and a separate file on my home computer.

I assume whenever you've had this problem and the MID showed a rear door open it was always the same rear door?

A "door open" indication means that circuit has been "closed" or shorted to ground. Either it's a faulty switch or something in that circuit is shorting to ground sporadically.

Or it could be the door striker plate is not contacting the switch correctly.

Yes, same door. I haven't had the MID indication since Friday, although the alarm has gone off. So far, so good, Been at the office for 2 1/2 hours without the alarm going off. I haven't opened the door since Friday night. Zero indications of an open door on Saturday or Sunday. Could this have been a fault in the system that has since cleared itself through the normal clearing process?

Not sure. It still could be a faulty gauge control unit I suppose.

Next time the alarm goes off take a look at the MID before you shut it off or open a door.

If the MID is showing a door open, then I'd guess that narrows the problem to a switch or circuit.
