Stripped bolt on Brembro Caliper

Just received my new pads and rotors from Brakemotive so i decided to install them today. I started on the driver-side with no problems at all. The old pads seemed to be the wrong type for the car though. The top leading edge of the pad was not making any contact with the rotor at all. Weird! Either way, the driver-side went together smoothly.

That's when things get interesting. Working on the passenger-side, removed the pads, then went to remove the caliper bolts and right from the get-go i knew there was a problem with the lower bolt (way too much resistance after breaking it free). With the bolt finally removed i could see the damage. NOT GOOD. I would love to find the idiot who did this and smack him upside the head for more than likely beating it on with an impact gun.....

So now i have a dilemma, do i try and re-tap the existing hole or plan on changing the caliper? If it comes to tapping, does anyone know off hand the size/thread type of this bolt? Recommendations on what to replace it with? Just sucks because i would hate to have to pay tons of money for a new caliper, but the car is not usable in it's current state.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

actually more than a few had the same problem on their first rotor change, indicating it was that way from the factory (so the guy you want to rag on is the assembler :P).

Helicoil it I think was the solution.

Hmm. I tried searching the boards, but came up empty. I will continue to search, but in the meantime do you know where one could purchase a helicoil? I tried Napa and advance, but they don't have anything in stock.

unfortunately i'm not too familiar on the matter. Mine were fine when i did my rotors last year.

thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/brembo-stripped-caliper-thread-724300/

pro tip: search function on acurazine isnt very good. Go to www.google.com and in the search bar type in: site:acurazine.com [insert your keywords]. Much more accurate and robust.

another gripe i have is that hyperlinks are not underlined, or otherwise indicated as a link. This is bad HCI, people (admins, i'm looking at you).
