So I've noticed my front passenger side door has a good amount of rattle/squeaking above the handle. I've used everything from double sided tape, folded up paper, and even memory foam to stop it. I've stopped the squeaking at the very corner towards the vent from squeaking but now noticed that where it's circled is where the new noises are coming from.
Anyone else have this issue? How did you get it to stop? It drives me insane when I hear it and CA roads don't help much either.
Read the instructions on how to view the TSB (important or it won't work!) and check TSB 07-006. Not exactly your issue but it offers great tips to deal with door panel squeaks and rattles. Mine is squeaking since last year (differently than yours though) and I'm waiting for nicer weather to fix it. keekekeeekekeee
lmfao I know right, roads are the same here in new brunswick prob even worse to be honest with you. these guys in CA complaining
Oh dude don't get me started. New Brunswick looks great when you get in it from Quebec, you're thinking the roads are going to be nice. Until you get a bit further and realize that only the roads that connect to Quebec are made to look nice, the rest is as crappy.
As a last resort you could try and get a little silicon spray (not WD-40 or anything like it) into the seams above/below the metal trim if you think it's chafing and causing the noise. Capillary action should draw it in so no need to go nuts with the stuff. If that's the issue it should quiet it for a while and you will know you are onto it.
The other thing is if the metal door trim is the same aluminum wrapped over plastic construction as the center console trim then those things can creak like a mo-fo in the winter. Any flex causes a creak. The only think I've found that fixes that is spring, summer and fall.

Really? I would've guessed that st louis has decent roads. what do we even pay taxes for
Yea honestly I pay my taxes and the roads are absolute shit here. My Teggy was slammed and I went through numerous axles before the tranny finally decided to call it quits. So when I finally decide to put full coilovers on my car im making sure they are fully adjustable so that shit doesnt happen to this one

I think that is the issue. The rubber/plastic (whatever material) has a decent amount of give now and when I manually move it myself I can simulate the chafing. It drives me nuts! I'll take a look into silicon spray too, I just don't want things to look too messy, I gotta find a can of clear silicon spray

I would try to make sure there's no give anymore rather than lubricating it if possible. In the event you can't block it from moving using felt or similar and it's chaffing and thus squeaking, then I would try to lubricate it.
I also believe that's the order of troubleshooting events Adobeman would take, judging from his "As a last resort" sentence. ;D

Yeah I gotta look around the house for some wool felt. The thing is I can't exactly pull it back far enough to get a piece of felt in between where I think the chafing is occurring, I can't even slip a piece of paper in there.
Might take off the panel and see what's going on behind it though. I didn't realize so many of the rattles and squeaks were fixed by wool felt though.

I highly suggest taking things apart, you can disassemble all of this in separate pieces. I used a strip of compressible foam used for weather proofing to fix my sunroof deflector rattle. Much cheaper than changing parts only to have the problem come back eventually.

Well I found some little felt circles that'll fix the problem better for now I hope. The passenger side is so much looser compared to the driver's side.
I'll need more than just my two free hours til work to take that door apart. Maybe I'll tackle it on my day off. Unless the squeaking goes away. I think I may have found the squeaking on another part closer to the vent, so hopefully I fixed it. Needed some real pressure to simulate the squeaking on that area now which I know that road rattles can't cause now.

It doesn't take long to disassemble the door. It looks daunting, but once you've done it once give it 5 minutes and the doors will be off.

I'll have to take a look sometime, not today though. I only took a glance at the TSB since I was on my phone, but I believe I saw directions in there to take off the panel?
May do it soon, I noticed the weather stripping on my driver's side door has a hole in it somehow. Don't know how the previous owner did that, but it needs to be replaced.

If the TSB doesn't have it, look in the Garage here or google search with keyword Acurazine at the end and I'm sure you'll find it.
As for the weather stripping, happens "a lot" here because of snow removal with a broom, but in the south only thing I can think of is debris getting stuck while lowering the window or similar.

Oh no it's that stripping on the door frame. Sorry don't know if that too was called a weather strip or not. My windows are fine.
Ahhhhh makes sense. Something probably got pinched in the door at some point (seat belt buckle, lady purse, etc) and made a nick in it.
Hah nah just a nick, a good sized tear about 4 inches long. I think I saw some directions to replace it months ago but never got around to it. Gotta find those directions again.
Don't know if replacing it would change much but the fact that the tear is there annoys me so much lol
I've got it on the drivers side wicked bad, sounds like the panel shifting around and just squeaking/rattling, generally when I'm turning/traversing bumps. It is becoming a nuisance and I plan on further investigation when I get the door panel off once it gets a little warmer.

Yeah my driver's side close to the driver air vent had some squeaking. Fixed it with a piece of felt, but I need to investigate and maybe see if it's possible to glue the thing in place more from behind the panel
