Stop lights on???

Just noticed everytime my headlights are on so are my stop lamps. So i do not have stop lamps. Had a small accident about 6 months ago, right rear quarter. Could this repairv be the issue?? In the meantime is there a switch i could look at some where? seems like headlight circuit is shorting into stop lamp circuit. Also how do you remve tail lamp?
Thanks Kev P

Of course the repair could be the issue. Something not wired/put together properly.

More often it's the sensor on the brake pedal. Not sure of it's proper name. You can try searching "Brake Sensor" or "Brake pedal sensor". Or look through this list of DIY's/FAQ's to see if there is a topic for it: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84831

Edit:

Ha! Found it in the DIY/FAQ list.

D-007: Brake Pedal Position Switch

Start with that anyhow.

Thanks for the reply. I found the sensor on the brake pedal and unplugged it. Turned the headlamps on and the brake lamps still came on. Also with the headlamps off if i step on the brake pedal the lights come on in my radio.

Pretty sure it's fairly easy to access. The problem is a tail-light replacement, for example, should be plug and play. Why some one would go in changing wiring around, instead of, say, a replacement wire harness for example, I don't know.

Check this thread. It's not about brake lights per se, but it show's what's in the area you're talking about.
