Still have a clicking noise when turning!
Still have a clicking noise when turning!
So, i took my TL to the dealer. Had some maintenance done, 105K, etc. I had them check the CV joints. They told me that they were good, and i had them replace the compliance bushings. What else could be making this ticking/clicking noise?!
can you get a video of it? if you do, please repost in this thread. I think it could be CV related still, if the noise changes with speed (clicking becomes faster as you speed up) and only occurs when turning. Either that or something is rubbing..
hey my car started doing this just yest after i got it back from the dealer. Dealer called me up bc they finally recalled the power steering hose. i took it in they fixed it. The next morning it was very cold. I go to turn the wheel at a stop sign and i dont hear the stupid moan that it used to make... instead during a full lock turn or close to full, i hear a strange LOUD clicking (fast) or can even be described as a popping.
the noise never happens once the car is warm, only when cold, and only in fwd not reverse, and only at very slow speeds.
I called the dealer he said hell look at it since it was just in there but the noise NEVER happened b4. however i have been having a problem with the car pulling left on the highway especially, had the alignment done but still pulling (could it be associated?).
from other websites it seems like ppl r saying struts possibly or strut mount.
also the car has 101000 miles on it.. dam just out of powertrain warranty i guess?
Jungy it seems alot like ur problem. did ur cv replacement resolve the issue completely? also if its CV joint then y does it only happen going fwd and not in reverse and y only when cold. never when hot.
also Mace how much did it cost u to get it fixed and was it at the dealer?
any ideas any help greatly appreciated!

if its the axle then I got one at autozone for around 70 bucks .. only took my mechanic about an hour to do ... so it wasnt an expensive fix for me at all , it had been clicking for a good year and if i just would have researched i would have got it done sooner since it was so cheap ... car also drives sooooo much smoother on the high way , no more steering wheel shake
mine only clicked in the cold weather , only when turning

Also GSP axles from advance auto work well too, and they have a lifetime warranty. They're just under $70 if I remember correctly. Had it put on a while ago and it has been perfectly fine since.

Thanks for all the replies! I'll be sure to get the axle checked out. It's been cold here in ohio since I bought the car, so I can't tell if it doesn't do it in warm weather or not. It's only when I make sharp turns too.
