Fix the known problem before trying to figure out another.

Most likely it's your axles. Some places will be willing to straighten out your axles without having to put a brand new one in. A new axle will probably be expensive.

I recommend getting the axles fixed and then getting your wheels rebalanced.

i'm actually experiencing the same problems now, i have a 05at with only 39.5k miles... but when i let go of the steering wheel, the car turns left...but the crazy thing is that the steering wheel vibrates making my interior rattle. i'm hoping it's just the shocks...how did your axles get bad?

i think he was referring to the other person that said the vibration occurs when slowing down from 100 to 80. which does sound like rotors (assuming slowing down includes braking not just coasting and letting wind drag do the work).

And 100 to 80 would infer slowing down, ie, braking.

I have a 04 TL with 68k on it. Same problem. Just put new aspec rims on it and still have the same problem. Steering vibration at 75+. Dealer said they will take a look at it and install these dampers that attach to the subframe of the car. I pick it up tomorrow night. Will let you know what happens.

Ok, Steering Vibration dramatically reduced by dealer installing dampers to the subframe. This may be the answer to many of your similar problems.

had the same problem -- my axles were replaced, wheels re-balanced -- problems solved... rock stable at 80,90,100mph, braking is smooth at all speeds.

95k on the odo.

to the OP, why not try rebalancing the tires first? It's like $50-80 to do all four wheels ..

Bad axles you'd feel vibes on acceleration. You sounds like you have a balance issue.

LOL goddamit! I wish I could read this first.. 3 wheel balancing still steering shaking >60, hubcentric rings (bought em' here AZ) still no difference, alignment....still shaking, spent $1K on coilovers hoping for bad shocks??? Hmmm reduction in wheel vibration BUT still there! (>60mph) AArrrgh! After some reasearch sounds like it can be my drive axles then? Shitt I could have put the couple thousands on down payment for another car! I basically stripp my car of aftermarket toys to make stock and buy lexus but then I really like the style of the 3rd gen TL. Pointless to get another TL and get similar headache! I have 42k miles currently, vibration started at 35k. Someone come steal it(insured)....lemme know I'll park it outside!

lol.. How about you leave it parked in a secluded area.. we strip your car of all your parts and leave the frame.. I call dibs on the tranny & lamps.

Shoulda called me!

You are going overboard though. The TL is a great car. You are nuts to think any other car might not have similar or even worse issues.
