Steering wheel swap

I bought a 2008 TL and the leather on the steering wheel is kinda wore out/raggedy looking. I currently have a cover over it. I also have a 2005 TL that I use as a work car. The leather on the steering wheel on it is still in excellent condition. My question is can the 05 wheel be gutted and fitted on my 08? The hands free buttons are a lil different I know but everything else is pretty much the same

the steering wheels will swap no problem...
it will be the functionality of the buttons that will be a problem.

most people do the opposite of what you're wanting to do. most people swap the type-s to the base, which means the type-s has a few buttons the base doesnt have. just a little bit of re-wiring and all will end well.
but in your case; you're going from an 08 to an 05.

oh, dont mess up the clock spring! lol

Yeah I don’t use any of the hands free buttons anyways so if that’s the only issue then I don’t mind that.

Justin isn't kidding. Keep the steering nut loosely threaded when you take out the wheel or you'll fuck up the clockspring. Ask me how I know.
