leather on steering wheel fading

Hey all, any ideas on how to re-apply black dye onto a 2004 TL steering wheel( is it even do-able)? Is there an old thread that you can point me to?

It will come back off, the vinyl around the wheel is peeling and worn, your best option is just to get another wheel.

Yep, this is what I had to do. Mine was not only fading but wearing pretty bad. The new one makes it feel like a new car again.

The wheel lists for $519. Steering wheel covers are ugly. I got a great deal on a new wheel for $80 on the BM but otherwise I would've had mine redone for about $100.

I just installed the 2006 Carbon fiber accessory steering wheel in my 04. Looks great and matches the 07 Type S CF shift knob I installed in the car 3 years ago perfectly.

Recover via http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/ or a wheel cover with www.wheelskins.com. I use a wheelskins and it actually looks pretty good- it is stitched on.
