had my type s in for some rattles, seem they were able to fix the steering wheel rattle that was also present in the standar tl that i had for a loaner...they took apart the steering wheel and put ept on everything and now its pretty darn quiet...

btw, what is this ept they keep talking about...

It's a sticky back foam (open cell foam strip). It's like home weatherstripping, difference being it's an open cell foam that's softer. They used it on the center channel speaker in my car that was rattling per the TSB. It seems to be Acura's solution to a lot of rattle problems it these cars. Hey, whatever works.

 

I wonder if that's what I'm hearing or if it's the same problem? What did they do to fix it? What is the TSB#?

They removed the center channel speaker from the grille, put the EPT on the edge of the speaker and reinstall the speaker on the grill. I found the TSB in the garage, sorry I don't have the number. I went through all the TSB's and printed off all of the that even remotely applied to my car. Even if I didn't have the rattle/problem, I still had them do them as a preventive measure (I hate rattles, like most on this forum).

 

i dont know what your talking about, but they opened my steering wheel up and ept'd everything in there and closed it back up...there was no tsb for it...

 

It appears that these rattles are not limited to the TL, according to this message board. It also appears that this isn't the first yeatr that this has been happening as I see some people with other Acura models experiencing the same thing.

Why would Acura allow this to happen? I was under the impression that Asian cars were of quality.

I was thinking of replacing my Yukon Denali with a MDX but know I'm not so sure.

 

The TSB was for the center channel speaker rattle. I clearly stated that in my post. I never mentioned the steering wheel. Glad they fixed your issue. EPT is Hondas best friend.

 

thats cool, i was talking about a steering wheel and i guess i got lost when the center speaker came up...
