Steering Rack Issue

Howdy guys. I have on 05 with around 119xxx miles on it and just this morning after some cold weather it seems like my rack is starting to whine. While sitting or at very low speeds i'll hear a grinding/whining sound.

Is it time for a new rack or can it be fixed with something different? Is it even worth not getting a new rack?

Thanks.

I had the same problem. This fixed it, and even if it doesn't, it only costs you less than a dollar and five minutes of your time.

do you think the rack could be starved? Would this change that?

Thanks for the quick reply.

The air in the system makes the whining noise, and possibly a grinding noise (the grinding noise in my case was actually the sound of air being sucked in through that old o-ring.) I did this two weeks ago and the sound hasn't come back. Took about fifteen minutes of driving to completely bleed the system.
