starting problems every once in a while

My TL is an auto and every once in a while my car won't start and I'd have to pull the key out and turn it again. Sometimes that still doesn't work, and I discovered that putting the car in neutral and then turning the key works. This has happened every once in a while ever since my car was new. I've taken it to the service department serveral times and they can't find anything wrong with the car. My battery died about a month or two ago and warrenty covered it, but I'm still having this problem so it's probably something else. It's really frustrating because I know something's wrong but I don't know what. Any suggestions?

It sounds like a problem with the starter solenoid or the neutral start switch.
It is a frustrating problem since the problem is intermittent and difficult to duplicate. I had this occur with my Integra over several months before the starter failed completely. Car actually started on 2 different occasions after auto club arrived, before the starter completely failed.

ive had this problem too

i heard turning the key to accessory II (the 2nd notch) will get the fuel pump going - and just wait till the gauges settle down then go for ignition

Try taking the key off the keychain. Sometimes other keys are known to interfere with the immobilizer system.

Then, like JustinZ recommended, turn the key to the second position. This will prime the fuel pump.

Follow those routines for a while, and see if it occurs again. If it does, then you know it's not the immobilizer or the fuel system. It's most likely the starter solenoid or the starter itself.

I JUST experienced that starting problem this morning!! And today was probably the second time that it's happened. I turn the key - nothing - do it again and it starts.

I haven't taken it to the service dept. yet because I had this problem with both my Civic and Accord also. It's infrequent, but it has happened.

...hope it's not "driver" related. LOL.

mine just started it this morning. i went to start the car and it was like the battery was dead, but it just would not fire. it took about 3 or 4 turns and finally it started, but very weak. It did it again this evening, but instead of acting weird, i got a fast paced "clicking" noise. i am taking it to the dealer first thing in the morning. WTF, you pay $35K for a car, you would expect it would last longer than 12k miles..........will follow up later.

I use to have problems starting but not anymore, just hold it a little longer. But one problem I am having with starting is when the engine is still warm, and when i start it, it sounds like a gurgle sound and an abrupt start but it still starts up. It just seems weird and wonder if anyone has this problem as well?
