Starting Problem

I just went out to start my car and the starter didn't even make a noise, it just kind of clicked and hummed. However all the interior lights and whatnot still came on. I popped the hood and readjusted the terminals and still nothing. I took my spare key because i misplaced the ones I had just tried to start it with and it started right up. I need to pick up my sister from the airport tonight and I'm concerned that maybe it is a battery problem and it will die on me. Any ideas as to what it is/ what i can do? Is it my key or something else?

Could be your starter. Try whacking your starter a couple of times, next time it doesn't start.

I had the same problem and when it happends just move your shifter to reverse and after that put it on the Park(if you have a 5AT). The neutral safety switch cause this problem!

Sorry for my bad English, I am French

I just replaced my starter. I have a manual I do not know if there are different part numbers but I went to the dealership.

Part #: 31200-RDB-A01RM

Using the spare key, just a coincidence, but next time it happens, turn on the lights and hit the starter, if lights dim considerably or go out, the battery, if not starter.
Get a mm and check voltage at battery, should be @12.4.

If it is the starter, one can usually get it to operate by turning the key back and forth many times, or hit the starter, but at some point it will not operate and leave you stranded.
