Start of a problem, power steering whine!

So After 7 Business days I got my car back from the body shop, Was hit on the passenger side.

I start my car up Monday Morning 2 days after i get the car back and hear a TERRIBLE whining sound. Revving the engine makes it sound worse and turning the wheel just makes the noise high and low pitched.

I open the hood and Notice that the Power steering fluid tank isn't in the slot its usually attached to so I grabbed it and slide it back into place.. about 10 minutes later letting the car warm up and let the fluids flow the noise goes away. Its been about a week and a half and no problems or noises since.

Today I start my car and this same noise is back and worse then ever

it took about hour for this noise to go away.. I was going to drive it over to Acura but it stopped before i could even get over there..

Help me out!

Try changing the O-ring first, cured my cold morning power steering whine. There is a huge thread in the problems & fixes sub-forum about it.

Video mentioned a leak, not a whine.

I've experienced the bad o-ring on three different cars now. Each time it had different symptoms. Each time replacing the o-ring fixed everything.

- 03 RSX, loosing power steering at random times when driving, overflowing reservoir, no noise.
- 04 Pilot, overflowing steering reservoir, no noise
- 05 TL, Crazy loud noise at startup, no overflow

Didn't watch the video at first because it only mentioned a leak in the video name. If whine or moan had been mentioned, I would have watched it.

...which was after I had posted about the fix as well.

The important thing is that both the video and my post address what the problem is, right?

Why would anybody watch a long boring video when they already know the cause?

Well.... I need a new steering rack according to body shop who fixed my car after an accident.. Got hit right by power steering pump and all that good stuff. He thinks it's the rack he's not sure.. I'm going to Acura tomorrow because after I left body shop went to a friend of mines shop he said its the pump the bearing sounds bad and when the car gets warm everything expands and theirs no noise.. Who to believe I don't know

Update: Car Went Back to body Shop 1/9 To install a new steering rack. Got the car back mid Day wednesday and there was no noise.... Next day it was warm and again no noise (only happens when its cold and car has sat over night)

PS car drives TOTALLY different with the new rack in, i kinda like this car now since i was looking for something that has the same feedback as a Lexus is or Bmw (tight and comes right back)

Started the car 1/20 and the noise was worse then ever, not to mention i was in a hurry and didn't let the car warm up.

its still their today so I called the dealership over weekend for a Wednesday Morning Appt.. She tells me theres a FEW recalls on my car.. I go really she goes that noise may be the power steering "component" I go like a hose she says Yes. "oh wait that was replaced, maybe its going again I'm not to sure just bring it in" I thought my audi was issues.

hopefully this is resolved.

Might want to make them check it. I've seen where the o-ring was 'replaced', but not with the correct, revised piece. They are different colors, but I don't remember what the colors are.

ISOSUNRISE6, are you refusing to replace this simple o-ring or something?
