Hey Everyone,

I have an 2005 TL with about 30k miles on it. From the time I got the car I have had squeaky brakes. Each time that I have had the car serviced I told the dealer about the problem and they say that they will take care of it. After each service appointment it does seem to go away only to come back after a short amount of time. The squeaking seems to occur in any kind of temperature pretty consistently whether I apply my foot to the brake hard/soft. Does anyone have a suggestion to get rid of this problem. Has anyone had a similar problem?

My 04 when I come to a soft stop.. (Most stop signs) I have squeaking, which drives me nuts. I have told them about it at Acura, they did something, blew off the dust/crap that get inside the brake pads or something..

Went away for a bit, but then came back.

My solution now, keep volume at 30...

 

It sounds like glazed brake pads. At this point, best option is to replace the pads since spraying or resurfacing them (which I assume dealer was doing) isn't working. You've got enough miles that pad replacement is probably around the corner anyway, assuming you're driving on the original pads.

My brakes were squeeking after 25,000 miles....i had to get them changed///

 

I just replaced my pads with the Akebono ProACT pads from tirerack. My squeeking went away. They seem to bite better than the stock pads too... They are supposed to dust less too, so it's win-win to me....

 

Proper bedding in of new brakes and occassional deglazing of older brakes needs to be done if you drive the car gently- as in spouse or kids in car most of the time.

These are sports cars at heart and its a fun simple process to deglaze the brakes

 

Heh heh, my wife wears out the brakes faster than I do In fact, I hate meeting up with her after work because everytime we stumble upon a red-light, she lines up next to me and tries to race me

And if we cross paths on the freeway on the way home, she always tries to beat me off the freeway, etc...

One time she was screwing around with me on the freeway, and one of my coworkers called my cell... She was so close to me, my phone automatically paired with her TL, and she answered my phone even tho the phone was in my pocket... You should've heard my coworker... He couldn't understand how I had my phone, but she answered it, but I wasn't in the car with her.

 

I took my car last week for service w/ squeaky problem,I had 17,8xx mostly city driving.Per service manager I still 60-70% left w/ all my pads and they just cleaned the dust brake and the squeaky were gone.(hopefully)

Should a dealer replace my brake pads for free because of the TBS?

 

get some new pads

 

If you can prove to the dealer that you have the problem described, then they should perform the TSB free of charge with no issue, since you are still under warranty at 30K.

 

if the dealer can' reproduce the problem they are not obligated to do anything but smile and wave as you leave with your squeeky brakes. TSB are to help them better diagnose the problem. A recall is the only reason they would fix it no question.

Thanks for the TSB. I have this problem and brought it up the last time I was in for an oil change...they told me they could put something on the brakes but it would wear off in a short period of time (I'm guessing what some of these other dealers were doing). The TSB wasn't out then, so if they don't bring it up (they are good about that at my dealer), I'll mention it. Thanks again.

 

Never expect the Service Writer/Advisor to actually be a "car person."
Some are former mechanics while many others are simply salesmen
who go to a special Acura school.
Thats why its so important to write down all symptoms and leave
a copy in the car for the tech.
What you say to the Writer is not going to go directly in the ear of the person looking at your car.

You cannot expect them to know TSB for every car, BUT when they enter your vin in their computer- one would hope it knows about your car.

If they are not helping you- call acura care!

AND call 1-800-382-2238 x5 6a-5p pacific time and register there. They have the books to look up anythng on your car

Get those brake pads replaced under warranty and the rotors turned, not bad for free1

 

I have an '04TL 6MT, we recently found an '06 G35 6MT coupe for her. She now seems to have a penchant for hanging the tail out - I hope she realizes that her next bonus will probably end up being spent on $1200+ worth of 19" 40-series rubber. I will say, that G barely inches out my TL in a drag race. It's really, really close - much more so than I expected - and my wife CAN drive a stick with the best of 'em, so it ain't the driver. I was really, really shocked to find out that her G coupe outweighs the 6spd TL by nearly 200lbs!

 

Sounds nice But doesn't negate Crapura's handling of service issues. A good starter car don't expect anything else. I'm thinking other brands now and I've had mine for about a year.

just got front brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced. under warranty due to brake squeal . 2004 TL 43k miles

 

guns..Last time I went to Acura, I told them and they said it wasnt covered under warranty

 

Thats what the service advisor told me too. but i told him to call his head tech who supported the tsb and they have to do it for free under warranty.
