Squeaking noise coming from the front right corner of the engine bay
when I start the car in the morning a significant squeaking noise is coming from the right corner of the engine bay. However after idling for a while when i start driving it goes away. and then again when im starting the car back from work to home. I notice it again but not too bad. However it disappears after the engine becomes warm, I guess.
My uninformed guesses maybe the timing belt is cracking? lack of lubrication. 2008 tl, 60k miles, engine oil life = 70 %. Please advise I'm a noob.
Any advise before I take my car in to the dealer is appreciated.
thanks

Mine does the exact same thing. Some have said its the serpintine belt, but i have replaced mine and it didn't fix it. It sounds just like a belt! Im starting to wonder if its the timing belt, but I would think that you wouldn't be able to hear it behind the casing.
I have the same problem, I even noticed that when I press down on the gas lightly the squeal noise gets faster.
I was told it was the tension and pulley and changed both with no luck.

i have had this with my TL. it sounds like a mess of chirpy birds or crickets? mine did it for about 3 days then mysteriously it went away on its own. that was a year ago. cold start it would chirp...start driving and about 3-5 min later the chirp would go away.
there are a couple of TSBs that are out that maybe related to this cricket noise. the key is to take the car into the dealer with the noise being active. of course that means they keep your car overnight. one of the TSBs refers to the TB (something about shims being installed to correct it). another to a loose heat shield. i stopped worrying about it since the noise disappeared, but my SA did hear me complain about it. nothing they can do unless they hear it themselves.

Thanks for your kind inputs.. im taking it in to the dealer on sat morning. Just a tad bit worried about driving 300 miles (from morgan city, LA - Houston, TX ) with this 'noise' ... even though it goes away after a while.... overcautious driving is on the cards. I hope they figure it out & get it fixed .. and hoping the warranty should cover it. Will keep you posted.

So, let me see if that is what you guys have/hear.
Mine is when I am braking and right before making a complete stop and then when I give it gas to get moving. Is that the time when this sound comes up?

My 07 Type S has begun chirping for the first minute after a cold start. Seems to have started since the outside temps have been going down ever so slightly. Sometimes it does the chirping sometimes it doesnt. Its minor though for now and hopefully its just the belt since thats easy enough.

I guess I need to do something about it. Just don't know where to start from
