I just bought a used 2004 TL with 52K miles for 14K. i was playing with the sportshift today coming up a hill, and the check engine light(CEL) flashed on like in the video below and stayed on.

is it something major, or is it just a warning sign when using the SportShift?

CEL should not come on inthe conditions you describe/show.

If you're lucky, the code is saved and can be read at a dealer or someplace like AutoZone.

Could be minor - an 02 sensor or something like that.

If it were me, I'd get it checked out.

 

Looks like a misfire to me. I had the same problem.

Replace the spark plugs and seafoam. Also, make sure to use 91 + gas.

I am s/c'ed and have the same prob, we updated the pcm and it still does it. No codes, no lag. The power is still there but it is just annoying at times....

i just got this fixed on my car over thanksgiving its a short somewhere in the sport shift thing. Its about a $500 repair not exactly sure on the price since my extended warranty covered it
