splash guards
So... I noticed my rear guards were loose. So I went to tighten them and realized I had to take them out because of this...
Am I missing something here?!?!? Wow.. awful.
Anyway, so I found out I'm missing some screws/brackets and such, when I stopped by the "stealership" they told me that because they are not the original dealer that put those on, they can't do anything about it as they don't have those parts, just the kit, which I would have to buy. No big surprise there...
Anyone know where I might be able to get possible replacements for cheap? I am going to try and stop by Lowe's/Home Depot tomorrow and see if I can find something there... but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas?
Thanks,
pawel

what am I looking at? Is it retaining mud and rocks or something? I don't think the mud guards are really built to last as long as the car. There always kinda cheap on cars, IMO.

I didn't know those were a dealer installed option. I've been thinking of taking mine off because I *think* it would look better without.
Mine also hold a ton of crud but then again that's probably stuff that would be hitting the paint.

my 06 rolled right off the truck and had not been spoiled by the dealers chop shop. I had mud guards installed a month later. I like the offset color of the guards - like black on white, etc. - but think no flaps look better than the color matched ones. just my opinion.

I pulled mine off (athracite metallic) and I think it looks better without them. I don't notice much more dirt around the area. Mine had ~85k miles when I took them off and there wans't tooo much pant damage. A little scratching but a lot of it buffed out. They were always filling up like that. I'm used to washing my 4x4's, so I take a little extra time washing my fender wells. It's kind of a pain on my TL, but you can blast that road grime out pretty easily with the right angle of the hose.

I did look at that website, and I thought I needed the bracket, which it does not look like I can buy by itself.
So I took of the whole rear guard again and took the clips and screws to Home Depot and after not much luck, to AutoZone. They ended up having pretty much the same screws and clips for $2 for a dozen. (I was missing about 4 screws and all the clips) Reinstalled (also made sure to clip and screw in the bottom side flap of the rear which was not secure before. Looks good now.
And because the previous owner did let the guard go for so long without being fully secure, it looks like I would have to do a lot of buffing if I were to take them off, so I'm going to leave them on. My TL is NBP, so I think it looks pretty good with them.
Surprised he didn't really noticed as it was a a new lease and everything else was spotless.
Thanks for the input guys.
Now I'm going to try and spray the crud out of there every time I wash the car I guess...

I just took my fronts off. I was positive I would like it better without but I'm not sure right now. I'm going to leave them off for a week and then decide.

meh, I've always like splash guards. Maybe more on trucks. Definitely don't dig color matched ones I see on select TL's.
I have noticed the rears are getting a little loose and have water lines forming from where they've shifted over the years. And these fookers are car wax magnets...shit never comes off the black guards!
