Angry Speedometer problem....

HI..
I owned a 2006 Acura TL (Canadian), two days ago after removing battery I notice something strange with my speedometer needle. Its stay all the way down (below Zero) and while driving its shows wrong speed. (all the time 20km/h less that actual). I went to my mechanic, he remove meter and set needle to zero but after first restart same story it went back to blow zero. He tried this two three times but nothing helps. He want me to replace speedometer will cost me around $500 for used. But I am worried if similar situation come in future.

I need help to find out what is actually wrong…

Thanks in advance…..

First I would get it on a scanner and make sure the ECU is seeing the correct speed. That will eliminate the VSS and ECU. After that I would start the troubleshooting procedure outlined in the manual.

Why did you disconnect the battery?

I put new battery in, I thing ECU getting correct speed, the reason is I always drive in manual mode, before my car wont shift in fifth gear until its reach above 65km/h and I think all TL dose same. but after this I am able to sift my fifth gear at 45km/h that mean actual speed is 65km/h. and as I mention earlier. my speed meter needle says below zero that almost 20km/h below zero and at speed of 20km/h its shows 0km/h and so on..

so problem is needle doesn't wont to stay at zero, instead of it stays below zero.
