Iridiums should always come pre gapped. They're very easy to damage when you gap them. If you're worried about it, buy a feeler gauge to check the gap but don't try to change the gap without the tool. With normal plugs I'll use a flat screwdriver but not with the iridiums.

For a new spark plug to cause a misfire the gap would have to be closed down completely, no gap or a huge gap, both would be easily visible. Is your TL a manual transmission and have you mis shifted or over revved it at all? A miss can be cause from several things but knowing if you have a manual transmission will point you in the right direction, where to start.

The IZFR6K-11 is the stock plug. Not sure what you had in there before (unless it was the Denso stock plug, but never heard of a car coming from the factory with Denso installed).

The NGK's come pre-gapped at 0.044" which technically is outside of spec (0.039" - 0.043"), but in reality is not an issue. You shouldn't have to change the gap.

maybe it is your coil?

Im not sure if only TLs that have a navi tell you this but when i had a misfire, my engine light flashes and my navi screen tells me the error code. turns out it was cylinder one and when i checked the coil was the problem.

for my situation it turned out the coil short circuited somehow and exploded and melted.

in terms of your spark plugs the NGKs you installed should have come factory already.

Make sure the plug is on the coil all they way. Did my plugs today as well and one of my coils wasn't plugged in all the way. Otherwise everything went fine.

I'm guessing from the OP that the misfire was there before changing plugs and he changed the plugs in hope if fixing the misfire.

A little more detail is needed in addition to what I've already asked. Is the misfire only at idle? Hot or cold make a difference?

you're dancing around the questions that need to be answered.
Please help us, help you, by answering some of the important questions.

is your car automatic or manual?
were you replacing the spark plugs in hopes of getting rid of the misfire?

Also, who replaced the plugs? What is the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code)? Did you notice any oil on the coils or on the old plugs? An engine misfire could be anything from a plug to compression loss or fuel pressure issues.

Where was this "rust"? A "corona" on the porcelain is normal...

My guess is that OP meant "squeeking" or a metallic squealing as the plug was loosened.

The code will give everyone a much better idea of the potential issue(s).

^ Meko,he means squeaking. Imagine a rusty bolt slowly coming out of its threads, that "skeeking" is the noise he heard & described when turning the spark plug.Kind of like metal on metal friction.

I'm not sure where this thread is going, soooo

Lol. I've always used "regular" $1-$2 plugs in the TL. No need for iridium as long as you change every 40-60k which I would do anyway just to keep an eye on what's going on in each cylinder. I know #3 is very, very, slightly leaner than the rest and the other 5 are identical. I'll know if that changes when I change the plugs and it can be an early indicator of fuel system issues or weak compression, etc. I'm probably the only person on this forum to use regular plugs but there's nothing special about the engine or ignition system that would make it "require" iridiums for anything besides long life. My last plug change was about $15 total. Obviously stock plugs are superior in the longevity department and as long as you're not completely OCD like me they're a safe choice.

^ IHC, do you use plugs with the same heat range at least? I've only owned Japanese cars, and always try to use OEM spec plugs because of this. I also bought a honda accord that someone had replaced the plugs with Bosch Platinums, and experienced misfires and shitty acceleration.Threw in a set of NGK platinums at 2.99 ea. and ran like a charm.Maybe it was the car, but that was enough to change my perspective on plugs.

Yeah, way back when I was trying to find the pinging problem I switched to some platinum one step colder with no problems. Due to laziness I left them in for 40k. I still have those if anyone wants pictures. Since then I've been using regular plugs in the stock heat range.

The iridiums are going to maintain the same gap over 100k while the regular plugs are going to open up over time but I've never experienced the slightest problems with regular plugs whether its cold start, idle, normal driving, or full throttle. I'm not afraid to spend money on a good product like my lubricants but I can't see an advantage to iridiums at my change interval. I'm not telling anyone to use regular plugs but over nearly 100k miles on regular plugs, not problems.
