Something with the starting of my 3G

Yo guys, I have an 04 Acura TL, it has 64k miles on it. Well today I was at a food shopping place.

I start the car, and I hear something turning like it usually does but it doesnt start. It just keep churrnning, you guys should know the sound before the engine first combusts, All I heard was the churning sound not the engine combusting, so I knew it wouldnt start, I stopped. Tried again, this time it worked and rode home no problem. All my electrics work fine, I recently put in my blutooth phone aswell. Also for the last couple of winter months, In the cabin, as I start the car, I hear some sort of noise, like electrical shocking noise, I was thinking it might be a fuse or something. It only clicks and makes sound when I start the ignition of the car.

I have a feeling I might either need a new starter or my fuses are burning? I dont know, im not that mechanically savvy, My cousin is a mechanic. So what should I do? I dont want my car to stall on me when IM out. Can my cousin check it out, or will acura need to check it out. It sounds mechanical and not so much computer oriented where acura would need to be used.

if yer cousin is an ASE certified mechanic, by all means, let HIM check it out -- don't let Acura scrape your of yer cash. Your obviously out of warranty, and it could be the starter solenoid you're hearing (defective solenoid) that makes a grinding sound just prior to cranking the engine -- seems like it's sticking before it advances to engaged the starter gear.

If it just sounded like the engine was "churning" and not actually starting up -- could be a crankshaft sensor issue, injector problem, plug problem. A member on this board had a similar issue recently and acura determined it was a defective crank shaft sensor. His car would actually sorta "sputter" up to speed once it actually started -- little different than what you describe.

Any check engine lights? Has it been very cold in VA lately?
