Small vibration in the brakes when coming to a stop?

I recently purchased a 2008 TL and I just started noticing this. What happens is while I am braking and coming to a stop, once I slow down to maybe 5-10km/h I feel a short vibration (like 1 second) in the brake pedal, then it feels smooth again. Right now I've got some crappy "Triangle TR968" tires which came with the car. They are loud as hell and I feel every bump in the road because of these (getting new tires in the next couple of weeks). So I am not sure if it is the tires causing this.

It doesn't seem like a big issue but I'd like to know if this is normal or not? I went from a corolla and a civic to a TL so I'm not sure if it is a weight thing. In the civic the braking is butter smooth and I feel nothing in the pedal.

Thanks

the tires might be losing traction.
get better tires and see if it stops doing the vibration.

sounds like a slightly warped rotor pulsing at each revolution. Could be uneven pad deposits too. Try re bedding the brake pads. tires are not loosing traction at those speeds. The speed of the pulse is directly proportional to your speed correct?

I thought rotors too, but he said he only gets the vibration for about 1 second at about 5-10 km/h. If it was warped rotors it'd be much more severe at higher speeds, but he didn't say anything about highway braking.

Highway braking seems to be fine. Seems to be only when I'm coming to a stop, and the vibration occurs before I come to a full stop. Do you think this is something that I can take back to the dealership to have it fixed? I bought it from a local Mazda dealership and they had told me there is a 30 day safety warranty (I've had the car since last tuesday).

I say take it back and see what they say.

Also, congratulations on the car!

Thanks! The 3rd gen TL is one of my favourite cars so I'm very glad to have it. I just hope this problem isn't too serious.

I just went out for a short drive to test the brakes and the vibration kicks in around 20-25km/h rather than 5-10, and the brake pedal is depressed maybe halfway. I don't think the vibration occurs if the pedal is depressed slightly. It is kind of hard to tell because the tires give the car a rougher ride than normal.

Hey all I just wanted to give a quick update:

Turns out it was the cheap tires (Triangle TR968) that was causing that buzzing in the brakes. I put a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS's on the TL yesterday and it drives like new now. I'll try to get some pics up soon but my car needs a good wash first.

Btw if anyone is thinking about getting Triangle brand tires, DON'T! They are very noisy, mine actually caused my car to pull to the right randomly, and I would not trust them for driving in wet weather or the snow.

warp speed!! i had the same problem last year about 40k miles. had them resurfaced problem was still there resurfaced for free a month later. problem gone. 12-13k miles later i feel nothing. If you get that fix, one way to stop it from happening again is don't jam the brakes when you come to every stop. then my friend you're just a warper.
