Small Oil Leak

Hey guys, hoping someone can help with an oil leak I just discovered. 6MT, 115k miles, discovered when I was changing my oil. Could this be the oil pan gasket starting to go? Haven't seen any drips at all in my garage yet. Also had to put in roughly a quart of oil about 3 weeks ago, when the MID was showing at 30%.

more likely the oil pump housing needs resealed or front main seal (not likely)

Anyway to check the oil pump housing? Valve cover gaskets were done back in November, so ruling that out. Doesn't seem to be around power steering area either. Wetness....goes up above past the oil pan seam, but not sure if that was from an old leak before the valve cover gaskets were replaced.

That oil looks really fresh, are you sure you didn't spill any oil?

Yeah, found the leak while I was draining the oil. I did have the CV axles replaced recently but that area is further away. Regardless, I already cleaned the area and I'm just monitoring it now. Also replaced the PCV valve since I'm not sure if it's ever been replaced.

Mine used to leak and show in the same spot. It was the oil pump for me. It started with drips every now and then to leaving a couple inches every time I parked. Just got it fixed last month.

if I am not mistaken its the oil pump, which very common on the J series motor.

I second the oil pump seals leak guess (internal O-ring, Hondabond around perimeter, and possibly a front seal). I'm getting mine resealed next week when I do my 105K Timing Belt service. Much of the disassembly labor required to access the timing belt service on the front of the engine is also required to reseal the pump. I understand that there are a couple more hours required to remove and reseal the pump (after accessing the timing belt--I believe the oil pan also has to come off because of the sump tube. But it's much more affordable to fix this leak during this service. Good luck!

^^^^ FIY
8 hours for the TB/WP along with thermostat and radiator flush. 4 hours additional needed to seal the pump, so you looking at roughly $1200 labor cost or $1835 with all the thing included.

^^^ You are dead on Tru. My Acura dealer wanted $2K. My Honda dealer was $1675 after I asked, and they gave me 15% off to get my business. (still, ouch!)
