Shift Knob Install...

SO just got my new Maven shift knob for my 6MT TL and I had no problem removing the stock knob...I put on the Maven knob and it looks/feels great, however the silver ring (at the top of the leather) is not attached to anything and is loose and kinda annoying...

Any ideas on how to attach it to the knob so it stays put? should I use some super glue??

Do NOT use super glue or any kind of glue for that matter. You may have to buy and aftermarket boot kit with ring to make it fit right. Or just leave it be.

It's a pain, but you have to take the center console apart and get underneath the shifter assembly. Once you do that, you can put a ziptie around the shifter stalk right where the boot should be with the shift knob on top of it.

This is the method I used, at least. Hope this helps.

How hard is it to take apart?

If you search in the 3G Garage, there is a DIY on installing a short shifter there, with pics. It'll guide you step by step.

I had the same problem when I installed a Blox weighted shift knob. That silver ring hanging there, just chillin’ was ugly. (Easy fix + a bit ghetto)= got the job done = (Go to Lowes plumbing section get a small box of various size washers for like $5 + find size that fits snuggly between silver ring and stick then pull up until it sits flush under knob)
It hasn’t moved unless I pull on it and I used a lot of play to get a thick washer in that silver ring. This is again a quick fix, I am also gonna opt out for a blue shift boot I saw on Andysautosport.com just cuz. Well hope this helps guy, be chill
