If it is a brand new car prob not the brakes... and if it were, it would not shake if you did not apply them...

Check to see if you have a bent rim... if not.. have your tires balanced... you could have lost a tire weight..

Take it into the dealer.. they might do this check for free since it is so new..

I bought an 07 TL-s 2 weeks ago and was having similar problems with the steering wheel shaking at approx 70mph so I took it and the dealer did the balancing for free telling me that the tires sometimes get a little warped sitting on a lot too long. It's funny though that after the balancing, the steering shook even worse and I checked my tired pressure and it seemed almost 2 digits higher on each tire than before so they may have tried to pull a fast one and just fill air in the tires. I called the dealer back and told him how it's worse now and they told me that they'll call Acura headquarters and let them know that they will be giving me 4 new tires next week. They also ordered new underbody side skirts because of a slight color mismatch.

The "shaking" is usually caused by tires that need to be balanced. If it's only happening under braking, it's probably warped rotors.

Start by having the tires balanced by a good tire shop.

Road force balance if you can find it....Acura here does a "fair" job....We have a shop here that does a high speed balance with tire on the car...balance rotor & wheel....sweet...and will shave if flat spots etc...like glass if done right...

Balance the Tires. When I bought my old 2000 TL, it shook exactly how you were saying yours does (with the brakes being fine and everything, slowing down from 85, or in cruise at about 55). The other problem that occured was that my car - even though it was new needed an alignment --- go figure... What year is your car? If you're saying you just bought it, the dealer should have a warranty for at least 12,000 mi on all defects on the car. Good Luck.

Steering shake on braking can be a bad brake caliper
Often happens after a pad change or fluid flush.

The OP bought a used 04- someone may have slapped pads on to sell it
but the rotors still need resurface or replace
Have a real shop tell you exactly whats wrong

Agreed with the others, I had a similar problem. Wheel Balance fixed it...though, I'm sure a few more potholes on 287 and I'll have to have the car aligned and tires balanced again
