Severe vibration when gas is applied/Axle questions
Hello, All
I had a severe vibration at about 60+ when the gas is applied. Took it to my buddy at Lexus and he noticed that there was a lot of play on the L tie rod. He replaced that yesterday, it got better , but still horrenous vibration. He said the next thing are the Axles. I am thinking about replacing both already. The car has 140k.
Tires are new/Alignment done/Balancing done/Ball joints checked.
My question: Should i go OEM or Aftermarket? Car is a MT.
I got quoted with a discount of $229.10 for right side and $241/23 for left.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

i went OEM, but mine was covered under my mechanical breakdown insurance (both of mine went south after 42k mi on a completely stock set up). be careful when going aftermarket, it maybe cheaper, but you have potential of more issues than its worth. avoid the chinese made axles. i know other members have used the autozone or advanced parts but end up with issues (yeah it may have a lifetime warranty, but do you really want to be dealing with replacing them every year and actually using that warranty?). a few others have used raxles with much less headache. if you go OEM you can get them through internet dealer sellers for a little cheaper than what you were quoted. so its up to you.

Yes $60 and it was from o'reillys, however you spell it. Autozone had their own axles for the same price. It's a new replacement. Took a while to pull the axle out of the tranny case but other then that it was a breeze. I noticed that on the o'reillys axle there wasn't a rubber dampener looking ring on the middle of the axle itself. I don't know if it's an issue but so far I have not notice any weird vibration that wasn't there before.
