There 3 lights for each switch. One is the background illumination that lights up the switch when the headlights are on.

The other two are low setting (green) and high setting (amber). If the same lights in the driver's button work, then it's a bulb and not a fuse.

Look in the 3G service dept to learn how to replace the bulbs.

Interesting. I wonder if they changed it in the later years. Both the high and low are amber on mine.

FWIW, the high bulb burned out long ago on mine. The heater still works and the low bulb works. I'm getting ready to do every light in the interior of the car since most of the interior has to come out anyway.

With the amount of work involved in replacing it, at a minimum you will want to replace all 4 indicator lights plus the background illumination lights while you're in there.

^yup...might as well buy all the lights for that spot. otherwise you'll be cracking it open again in a few months when the other lights take a crap on you.

my passenger side background "red" light went out a few weeks ago, so i'm buying all 6 lights and just doing it all at the same time.

How hard is it to get to the bulbs? Is there instructions on how to do this somewhere? Thanks!

^Taking apart the center console is pretty easy to do. Getting those switches out was confusing, but its certainly not too hard. There are DIYs in the 3G garage.

You don't really have to get the switches completely out. Just peel off the silver sticker and the bulbs are right under there. Reachable with a flat screwdriver while the switches are still mounted. As long as you move the console compartment as far back as you can, you should be able to untwist those bulbs out without taking out the switches.

Hi everyone,

I am an absolute newbie to this forum (I registered yesterday) and after spending quite some time reading about using the "search" button before posting I came across this post - which I am happy I found.
The seat background illumination bulb on my driver's seat is not working, but the heater itself is. So I'll just change it.

But there is something else I wanted to ask - I am not sure whether the following two should be illuminated (are there bulbs at all inside this buttons):
1. The Voice control BACK button and
2. The HFL BACK button

When I turn on the headlights, the Voice control TALK button and the HFL TALK button are illuminated, but the others two are not. So my question for you guys is, are the bulbs finished, or there aren't any bulbs at all?

Thanks a lot,

Best

Yes, mine are lit, at least for now. The "Mode" button on the upper-left side of the steering wheel doesn't light up.

OK, thanks guys - I'm calling the dealer tomorrow as they told me they will fix any problem within a month of the purchase of the car.

Ezkaban - my "Mode" button is lit, so you need to change it man

Best

P.S. I would also like to ask which of the Power mirror buttons should be illuminated at night - on my car only the 4-way adjustment switch is lit and also the "heated mirror button" has a small amber indicator light which comes on when I turn the mirror heating on. Is that all?

These are indeed supposed to be lit up. I actually just barely bought the bulbs i needed to replace in these, and I was going to replace these this weekend.

The bulbs you want are Part # 35896-SEP-AO2. Two of them.

Or you guys can buy these from Radioshack:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2103780

Pretty easy to remove the old bulbs and put the new ones on and trim the excess copper off.

just a thought...but would it help to extend the life of these bulbs by keeping them dim via the brightness level switch? avoid running them at max brightness may help.

Go here for the t3 neo wedge leds, they come in a variety of colours. Get at least 26-30. I did this last winter and they all work great.
