Seat/Mirror Memory Issues

I know this has been discussed somewhere on here before, but was unable to figure out the correct search terms to find the thread I need. Most went back to bad mirror actuators or a blown fuse....not my issue. My mirror actuators were replaced in the last year. Both the seat and mirrors honor the memory settings just fine when manually pressed.

I have a 2005 TL 6spd...if it matters...and about a month ago my wife and I noticed that the seat wasn't adjusting to each of our preferred settings. She is Driver #1 and I am Driver #2. I unlocked the car with my fob and the MID said Driver 2 detected. Awesome, all is good, my wife is crazy. Then I noticed my mirrors were not in the correct location nor was the seat. Hmmm...the radio stations were correct for me, but not the seat or mirrors.

Turn the ignition off, open door, close, lock. Unlock with my fob again, open door, turn ignition on, seat and mirrors now move. WTF?

Each time we get in:
- MID appears to correctly acknowledge which keyfob unlocked the car
- HVAC controls appear to correctly associate the driver
- Radio appears to correctly associate the driver
- The mirrors may or may not move to the correct position
- The seat may or may not move to the correct position
- If I manually hold the memory buttons, the seat and mirrors will move as expected

It is consistently inconsistent if everything behaves or not. It really isn't a huge issue, just annoying. Since the memory buttons work, we just have to remember to hit those when things aren't quite right.

I would try that. If it doesn't work, then there must be something "breaking" the operation of the system. For example sticking mirror would cause the system to abort switching the memory position. Unfortunately I don't know how to test for that.
I'm assuming parking brake is ON and you leave your car in neutral, right? Service Manual mentions that car must be in neutral for the system to work, so maybe whatever is responsible for detecting neutral position on manual TL is going bad?

But then when I enter my car, sometimes driver's mirror is in some weird position. I replaced both actuators some time ago, and pressing memory button fixes that mirror 100% of the time. Reverse function is always tied to right side mirror. No idea what causes this mirror to rarely move somewhere. Autel and SnapOn scanners don't pick anything, so I left it without ever fixing it. In my car it happens about once per two weeks, but I'm the only driver.

Both of my mirror actuators were replaced within the past year. No sticking or random wondering issues at all with my mirrors.

There is no neutral detection in the TL as far as I know. I have never left my car in neutral....ever. No proper MT driver would ever just trust the parking brake.

I have had more one friend whose car rolled away because their parking brake didn't hold. I also spent a lot of time in Lawrence, KS which is quite hilly and you did everything you possibly could to make sure your car didn't roll when parked. I have been driving MT since the mid-90s and never trusted just being in gear or just using the parking brake...always both.
