Seat heater

Summer is around the corner so not a high priority to fix it, but I wanted to know is common for the lower bottom section of the driver's side heated seat on a newer model (read this was a pretty big issue with 2G cars) to go bad?

This morning (a wee cold) I did use my seat heater but noticed that only the back was getting hot (on Hi). Didn't feel anything on the bottom section. Is this an easy fix? The DIY I've seen all have been for 2G cars. The good is I have an extended warranty (should cover it) but there's a $100 deduc. Thanks in advance.

There honestly shouldn't be a big difference between the 2G and 3G fix if you can solder a broken connection in the heater grid and can get the seat leather off to get to the grid. I had the repair done at the dealership on my 2G car years ago and it was $600. If you're not inclined to take the seat apart to do this work, it might be worth the $100 in deductible to have Acura fix it.

If you have a solder iron and fix it yourself, it's free. If not, it'll be $100 which really isn't bad as the car has an extended warranty.
