Angry seat belt remainder does not longer work

I have tried to searched but have not found anything regarding my problem. When I have a passenger in my car without seat belt on the seat belt remainder does not come on nor the light in the center guage. Has anyone expiriened this problem yet? I have an appointment with my dealer for today, but I would appreciate any info or direction with this issue. I just hope those monkeys won’t have to tear apart my car and screw something else while fixing this.

I WISH I could get mine to do that! We live in a small community. A quick trip to the pool is only about 1/2 mile and we never get over 20MPH. Sure would be nice if we didn't have to bother with the seatbelt and not have to get the constant reminder. Oh well, I guess some people have all the luck LOL!

^^ Seatbelts are there for a reason. They are required by law for a reason. Even if you make a trip down the block at 2 mph doesn't mean someone won't hit you going 30+. I'd rather not have to hear of someone flying through the windshield again.

As for the reminder, i thought it comes on for the driver only, and not for the passengers.

I was at the dealership today with the seat belt remainder. I test drove 2 06 TL and the seat belt remainder for the passenger did not go off; however, the tech told me it should go off.
He is going to call the tech line on Monday to double check this with one of the engineers from Honda.

I just reviews a Quick Start Guide and it stats:
Seat belt reminder light: Fasten seat belts. If you drive with you or your passengers seat belt unfastened, it flashes and a chime sounds.

In my other post I forgot to add, but the tech was so curious about this issue that he took out the electrical diagrams for 06 TL and double checked everything and according to the diagrams the warning should go off for the passenger if the seat belt is not on!

Yea, the FIRST time it happened to me...WTF are you talking about with this AGAIN stuff? I KNOW seat belts are there for a reason but I ALSO remember riding in BETWEEN the front seats of my dad's 1970 Cutlass 442 (at the time there were NO seatbelts in the back). Sheesh! Get REAL folks! You will no DIE if you roll down the seat @ 20MPH without seat belts on. In fact I'd almost wager that you CAN NOT get thrown through the windshield at that speed (simply physics would require that the body be at least 200lbs and have absolutely no obstructions between it and the windshield and that the windshield itself break well before the tolerances it's design for and even then the "victim" would most likely be lodged into the glass itself. Not certain where your fantasy world is that justifies your comments but I'd much rather have you stay in it than out here in the cyber world where your comments simply sound silly. If it does happen, you are more than welcome to simply "not read about it..."

PS - As you can tell by the content, I am not some "kid" joyriding.

2000 TL doesnt even have a chime for the driver just a big red light that doesnt even flash.

However though if your getting a new car I think they are going to have it there are a few cars I know do not. My grandmoms 06 Murano doesnt have one.

I have a friend that drives an 05 Mercury Mariner and it does it for front and passenger, however my dad has an 05 Lincoln Avaitor and it only does it for the driver and it in his car if you look in the manuel it tells you how to turn it off. My mom has a company car and gets one every two years or so and her 03 Caddy Deville didnt have one but now her 06 Caddy DTS has one for the passenger and the driver.

Recenetly NC made it a law everyone had to wear there belt back or front seat and I think most states have it as the law at least for the front so now car companys are trying to renforce it.

I have no idea what the 07 does but I would hope the chime only works for the unrestrained passenger "IF" their is one/a person sitting in the seat. IE, if no-one is ridding with the driver, only the drivers seat belt/non-use would result in a chime. If a passenger/weight is present and not wearing a seat belt then the chime would activate etc..

So how does it work you fortunate 07 owners??

Big picture,
If someone is ridding in my car they will have a seat-belt on, so if it functions via a weight sensor I would be all for it!!

I think this is a 2007 feature. Our 2007 Odyssey has the same. IF there is someone in the front passenger seat without thier seatbelt on, you get a seatbelt nag for the passenger too.

So if you have a heavy box in the front seat do you need to click the seatbelt in?

lol. so wait, i just want to understand better.... the 2007 DOES have a seatbelt chime on the passanger? ... damn, as if one wasnt bad enough!!

There MUST be a wire that you can simply splice out of the buckle and ground it. we just need somebody with balls to try it out...

am i gonna be the first?? lol

Another easy way to avoid the sound is to click the seatbelt into the locking device.

I HAVE A PROBLEM! My driver side seat belt warning DOES NOT come on anymore. This morning I started driving and noticed my airbag light on the dash,so I pulled over and turned off my car. Started back up, the light was gone but I drove with no seat belt on and got no warnings. I have recently installed a-spec body kit, painted my headliner, and did some minor fixes. I used silicon spray on some squeeky doors and then sprayed into the seatbelt connector. I thought it would be ok because it is a dielctric silicone spray. Any ideas?

it's probably the spray that messed up the sensors in it...

My 08 TL the reminder comes in in MID for pass, and driver sucks. But all u gotta do is stuff something in the seatbelt thing and u hear it click and it thinks u have seat belt on easy enough. I use my gucci sunglasses sometimes u just stick in the part that goes over ur ear.

a buckle out of a late 90's Infinity fits in there perfectly.

PROBLEM SOLVED. I got some compressed air, sprayed it into the seat belt, and let sit for a bit. It's been a few weeks and the seat belt warning has returned just like factory. So DO not SPRAY anything into your seatbelt connector, unless you want to fly through your windshield.

Easy solution: Don't drive unless she wears the seatbelt. If she doesn't like it, she can find another way home. Unless you stand to inherit a hell of a lot in her will, of course!

My car, my rules, and rule #1 is that if you do not wear a seatbelt, you do not ride with me.
