?'s about maintnance.

I was doing maintnance on my TL and I ran into a couple of questions. 68k

First of all, after doing my oil change, I noticed that the amount required is 4.5q. I've been using 5q since I started doing my own oil changes. How much does that matter? Please tell me it's cool. I know it's irrelevant, but I used Royal Purple. It's cool I guess.

Second, my reserve tank is low on coolant. Do I have to use this Honda All season type 2 coolant? If so, which I rather use cause it's in the manual, can I get it at a local auto parts or do I have to go to the dealer?

Third, when should I change my transmission fluid? Should I keep waiting for the maintnance minder or is there a certain amount of miles to be safe? I read the manual and it only talked about living in mountainous areas, which I don't.

Sorry guys, but it sucks searching sometimes. Thanks in advance.

60K is when the transmission fluid should be changed, 3x drain and refill procedure. As for the coolant, use the honda stuff, it has no silicon in it.

For the oil, I don't think .5 quart should make a big difference, but it could end up causing some frothing of the oil which isn't good.

you need to find out why it was low on coolant in the res- was the radiator low as well?

could need a cap, and make sure the tube is connected INSIDE the res bottle cap or the system does not operate
Look on the radiator top seams for green, and look for rock hit in front

isnt it 4.7 qts with a filter? whats the owner book say?
there is plenty of room for the small amount over, look at the dipstick
The car uses a tiny amount of oil- by 7500 miles you will read full

it should be at the low mark when warm and full when cold-
or is marked hot cold levels on the bottle side

The transmission fluid change is under Maintenance Minder code number 3- so it should be changed when A3 or B3 appear in the MID.

However, many of us change out the transmission fluid @ 30K miles to start, just as a precaution.
