Rust on the brake disc

I was on vacation for the last week and when I got back there is rust on my break disc. It covers 70% of the disc in my front right wheel and 10% of the rest of them. Could someone tell me what causes this and how I can fix it? Did I do something that caused this? or is it just due to the wet weather we have been getting in Seattle lately.

ignore it, it's normal, it'll go away when you brake...

yep- normal unless it stays there after a drive, then you have a problem
